LiAngelo Ball has taken on a new career path, becoming a full-time artist, after signing a $8.3M dollar record deal with Def Jam.

Now known as ‘G3’, Ball has received massive success from his viral hit “Tweaker”.

His contagious sing-a-long has captured the attention of millions around the world, as the record label as Def Jam proactively decided to drop the bag on the 26-year-old rapper.

Is LiAngelo Ball signed?

According to ESPN Insider Shams Charania, Ball’s deal is worth as much as $13 million, with $8 million guaranteed. The deal also gives Ball full ownership of music and his own record label.

Ball also catapults his name to the top of the list of athletes who made a record. With songs from Allen Iverson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Durant, and even the late, great, Kobe Bryant; none of them were nearly reached the popularity of the record.

How did ‘Tweaker” become viral?

It all started during a stream with influencer Neon, when Gelo asked if he wanted to hear “some hot sh*t” and played the track in the car. Once people heard it, they went crazy, saying it sounded like it could’ve been a hit in the early 2000s. Thanks to social media influencers, a trend became popular to reenact a 2000’s music video as we await the official music video from G3.

Even though Gelo’s mostly known for his basketball skills, “Tweaker” shows he’s got some serious musical talent too. He’s got that unique ability to take classic sounds and make them feel new. Not to mention, the song isn’t you average 90 second ‘TikTok-Bop’, as G3 has two verses on a 3-minute song. Looks like Ball might just have a future in music on top of his hoops career.
